Republic of Moldova participated for the first time at this moot competition. The team was supported and trained by Efrim Rosca Asociatii Law Firm and NGO EcoContact.

Law firm „Efrim Roșca Asociații” (ERA) in partnership with NGO „EcoContact” (EcoContact), supports the Moldovan team’s participation in the European Regional Rounds and get involved in the team’s training for the moot court competition.

Moldovan team is formed of three students – Irina Punga, Ecaterina Cramarenco and Ion Guceac jr., and two coaches – Ilona Panurco (ERA) and Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov (EcoContact). Today and tomorrow our team shall argue within the oral arguments rounds held under the International Court of Justice (ICJ) rules.

International Environmental Moot Court Competition is simulated court proceedings in front of ICJ on an international litigation on environment. During the competition, the participants act as states’ representatives (attorneys). The moot competition involves two main stages:
– drafting and submitting memoranda on behalf of applicant or respondent, and
– participating in the oral arguments as applicant or respondent, depending on the assigned role, according to the ICJ and competition’s rules.

These competitions offer to young lawyers the opportunity to apply their knowledge on international law and international environmental law, to develop their legal logic skills, abilities of structuring and presenting the arguments, to gain experience in public-speaking and to socialize.
